What is included in comprehensive health insurance for foreigners?

Contracted hospitals
Clients may preferentially use contracted hospitals (see the up-to-date-list), which charge the costs of acute and emergency medical care within the scope of the insurance terms and conditions directly to Slavia pojišťovna. Clients therefore need not pay the costs and only then claim the indemnity from the insurance company.

Assistance service
If necessary, the client may request assistance by phone at +420 296 339 679, or by fax at +420 296 339 630. The assistance service is available to clients 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Operators at the assistance service call centre speak Czech, Slovak, English, German, French, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian and Vietnamese. They will help clients find our closest contracted medical facility, assist in communication in the event of a language barrier, and organise repatriation, if required.
Public promise of Payment for Medical Care provided to foreigners insured by Slavia pojišťovna
Slavia pojišťovna insures foreigners for comprehensive medical care within the Czech Republic. Health insurance for foreigners provided by Slavia pojišťovna is accepted by the Czech authorities, including the Police of the Czech Republic. The insurance meets the conditions of Act No. 326/1999 Coll. on the residence of foreigners in the Czech Republic, as amended.
Our contractual policyholders are provided with a “Health Insurance Card” for identification purposes in the provision of comprehensive medical care; the card proves that the foreigner has taken out health insurance for foreigners with Slavia pojišťovna.
Slavia pojišťovna a.s. undertakes to pay a medical facility in the Schengen area, including the Czech Republic, the costs of acute and emergency medical care provided to the insured person in the event of sudden illness or injury, to the extent outlined by the insurance policy and the insurance terms and conditions that are part of the policy. In the event of sudden childbirth by the insured person in a medical facility in the Czech Republic, Slavia pojišťovna further undertakes to pay the costs of obstetric care for the insured person and, if the MOTHER AND BABY insurance has been taken out, also post-natal care for the newborn. If WOMAN insurance has been taken out and the birth occurred after the waiting period stipulated in the insurance terms and conditions has elapsed, post-natal care is paid from the insurance. This promise refers to the reimbursement of the costs of medical care for the insured person, or the newborn of the insured, up to the maximum prices valid in the public health insurance system in the Czech Republic.
Verifying the effectiveness of the insurance
To verify the participation of a foreigner in this commercial health insurance for foreigners, Slavia pojišťovna can be contacted on working days between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. by phone at +420 255 790 111 or by email at provoz@slavia-pojistovna.cz, unless stated otherwise on the “Insured Person´s Card”.
At other times, the validity of the insurance may be checked with the Eurocross assistance service by phone at +420 296 339 679.
